You Are My Sunshine

Good evening!! It has been a long week full of clouds, snow and ice. I felt this card was fitting, it's literally the only sun I've seen in the past few days.
I pieced the background together using paper from a paper pad that I bought at Hobby Lobby at least 4 years ago, maybe longer, and I have no idea what it is called. It is one of those thick pads with the rainbow of colors in different patterns in it, most likely Paper Studios brand. It's paper, not card stock. I started out by cutting rectangles out of the patterned paper using the following measurements:

  • 4 Orange - 4 1/2" x 1"
  • 2 Yellow Polka Dot - 4 1/2" x 1"
  • 2 Yellow Diamond - 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"
I then cut them on the diagonal to get these rays. I inked up the edges with my Tim Holtz Mini Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed using this blending tool. Next, I adhered the "rays" to a regular piece of white paper measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (the size of the card). I knew where I wanted the sun so I used that as my guide. I placed the pieces all around, side by side. Then, I adhered the whole piece to the card front. I had quite a bit of paper hanging off of the edges which I later trimmed off.

For the cloud I used the Stitched Speech Bubble Edges Die-Namics from My Favorite Things, but now it's only available from Simon Says Stamp. It took some careful placement to get a cloud and not a speech bubble but I actually got it on my first try. I used MFT's Sweet Tooth Card Stock for the cloud and the card itself.

I used Bring the Sunshine stamp and die set from Simon Says Stamp for this cute little sun. I stamped it with Hero Arts Orange Soda ink and then Heat embossed it with some Recollections Iridescent embossing powder. I wish we had some sunshine so I could take better photos of this card and capture the shimmer that this embossing powder has.

I have to say I am not a fan of the ice and snow but can't really complain when I see other places buried in snow. Plus, I took advantage of the snow day to catch up on some things I needed to get done around the house and some crafting.

Thank you for stopping by!

Donut Delight Challenge

Hello all! After a 2 week break, I am back with a new card! I have been seeing donuts everywhere and I had to get in on the action. I am linking my card to the Curtain Call Challenge - Donut Delight
Don't they look delicious!

I created a shaker card for this, I love shaker cards!! The first time I made a shaker, halfway through, I swore I would never do that again. It seemed like it took me forever to make it. But I was so happy with the end product, it was totally worth it. Now I make shakers any chance I get.
Paper - Sweet Tooth  and Summer Splash Card Stock from MFT Stamps
Die - Donut You Know from Reverse Confetti
Stamp - Laina Lamb's Donuts & Sprinkles also from MFT Stamps

Stitched Hearts

I have another Valentine's Day card as promised. I don't know how it happened but I actually had some free time this evening to create this card.

I have been wanting to do some sewing and I finally got it done. I love to sew, I consider myself good at it even. Sewing on paper is new to me though. I am very happy with how it came out. I started getting so many ideas but ran out of time. I'm crossing my fingers that I have some spare time tomorrow to create more cards using some stitching.

I die cut some hearts using the Die-namics Pierced Heart STAX from MFT Stamps. I just love the piercing on the edge of these hearts! Next, I used some blue painter's tape to hold everything in place and also as a guide to stitch a straight line down the middle. I folded the sides of the hearts up just a tad. I stamped the sentiment in Versa Mark with a stamp that I found in the $1bin at Michael's. Yes,$1!! I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder from Recollections. I added some brown pearl embellishments. All of this is on a Primitive White Card Stock from MFT Stamps.

I am linking this card up to the MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge #214

Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with another card. Thanks for stopping by!

Sending You Love

Hey! I'm back with my latest card. I have been working on my Valentine's Day cards and tags and this is one of them. I have so many ideas for cards and other crafts, other than hearts and love cards, but for now that's what I'm working on. I am afraid to start on anything else because if I do, my Valentine's projects will get set aside and then February 14th will get here and I'll either be 1) hustling to get stuff done at the last minute or 2) not have anything at all. Which may or may not have happened at Christmas time. So, for now, it's hearts and love.
I created this card using some MFT Stamps Cherry Crisp Card Stock on a Sweet Tooth base, also from MFT. I used the "Sending" die from Simon Says Stamp. The "LOVE" die was the "FREE with $60 purchase" last month. I really love this die! On the inside of the card I stamped some random hearts using MFT's Cherry Crisp Dye Ink ink along with some Pink Color Box Pigment ink. I feel the card is simple but not, if that makes sense. I am going to use my card for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "H is for..." in this case "H" is for hearts.

I will continue to work on my "love" themed cards and post them here as I go. Thank you for stopping by! See you next time!
